Laken N. Smaha

Laken N. Smaha concentrates her practice in family law, including divorce, child custody and support, paternity, prenuptial agreements, orders of protection, adoption, guardianship, grandparents’ rights, and child advocacy. She has extensive experience working with victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. Ms. Smaha is a member of the Sangamon County and Central Illinois Women’s Bar Associations.

Ms. Smaha joined Sorling Northrup as a summer associate in 2020 and was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 2021. Prior to joining Sorling, Ms. Smaha served in the United States Air Force as a Signals Intelligence Analyst in San Antonio, Texas. She later worked as an advocate for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault with Sojourn Shelter and Services in Sangamon, Illinois.

Ms. Smaha graduated cum laude from the University of Illinois in Springfield where she earned her degree in Clinical Psychology. She earned her Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2021.
