Banking
Sorling has a substantial banking practice, representing domestic
banks, bank holding companies, savings banks, mortgage banks,
other special banking organizations, credit unions, and finance
companies. Throughout its history, the firm has provided extensive
advice to firm banking clients on the legal aspects of day-to-day
operations. Such services include document preparation and review,
collections, representation of banking entities in bankruptcy
proceedings, mergers and acquisitions, and compliance with state
and federal regulations.
The firm also has experience in obtaining the appropriate Illinois
regulatory licenses for both in-state and out-of-state institutions
and mortgage companies, and has advised such entities on matters
of state regulatory compliance. Clients include commercial and
consumer lenders as well as individual borrowers and larger commercial
and industrial borrowers whom Sorling has represented in connection
with original loan transactions, refinancings, and credit line
extensions, both secured and unsecured.
Sorling attorneys also have extensive experience in providing
non-Illinois lenders with general advice and assistance in document
preparation with respect to secured transactions involving Illinois
