G. Troemper joined Sorling, Northrup, Hanna, Cullen & Cochran,
Ltd. in 2007. Since 1998, and prior to joining Sorling, Ms. Troemper
was in private practice in Springfield, Illinois, where she defended
medical malpractice, defamation and civil rights claims against
various hospitals, physicians, and nursing staff. Other areas of
her practice included health-care related disciplinary review hearings,
medical staff bylaw interpretations, insurance defense, general
casualty claims, premises liability, settlements of minors’ estates,
class action defense, asbestos litigation, and mediations. At Sorling,
she concentrates her practice in civil litigation, defending various
clients such as public utilities, self-insured, and other medical
and corporate entities.
Throughout Ms. Troemper’s legal career, she has been active in various state and local bar associations. She recently was elected to a three-year term on the Board of Governors for the Illinois State Bar Association representing members outside of Cook County and was nominated by her peers to serve on the Board of Governors’ Scope and Correlation Committee. Prior to her election, April represented the Seventh Circuit as an Assembly member for the ISBA and served as Chair of the Assembly’s Agenda and Program Committee. Ms. Troemper is also a member of ISBA’s Judicial Evaluations Committee and previously served on a number of other ISBA committees. Ms. Troemper served six years on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Bar Foundation from 2002-2008, representing the Fourth District of Illinois. Ms. Troemper’s other leadership roles include serving as current President of the Profession of Leadership Foundation, immediate past President of the Young Lawyers Division of the Sangamon County Bar Association and past President of the Central Illinois Women’s Bar Association. Ms. Troemper is also a member of the Lincoln-Douglas American Inn of Court.
Ms. Troemper is also active within the community and was recently elected to retain her position on the Springfield Metropolitan Exposition and Auditorium Authority (SMEAA) Board, which oversees the operations of the Prairie Capital Convention Center.
