G. Horstman Jr. joined Sorling, Northrup, Hanna, Cullen & Cochran,
Ltd. in 2003. He concentrates his practice in real estate, business
formation and transactions, general commercial law, estate planning,
and has particular expertise in legal issues concerning the formation
and operation of tax-exempt not-for-profit entities and trade associations.
Prior to joining Sorling, Mr. Horstman served as Chief Counsel
to Jane Addams Hull House Association, a large not-for-profit social
service agency in Chicago. During and prior to his six years at
Hull House, Mr. Horstman maintained a private practice with a broad
range of clients including individuals, charities, and businesses
and handled matters over a wide range of issues.
While in Chicago, Mr. Horstman served as vice chair on the board
of the Chicago Access Corporation, which provides cable access
and training on five channels throughout Chicago. He also hosted
a live television show called "Political Forum" that
allowed viewers the opportunity to ask questions and debate issues
with local, state, and federal politicians. In addition he was
a guest lecturer at DePaul University on legal issues confronting
not-for-profit entities for a master level class on not-for-profit
administration.
Mr. Horstman is a Springfield native, graduating from Sacred-Heart
Griffin High School in 1990. He graduated from the University
of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with a degree in Finance and
Economics
(B.A. with distinction in Finance, 1994) and received his Juris
Doctor degree from Washington University in St. Louis (1997).
Mr. Horstman is licensed to practice in Illinois and is admitted
to
the bars of the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Central
Districts of Illinois.
