Firm Management
The firm is managed by a six-member management committee
that consists of five shareholders and the firm’s Chief Operating
Officer. Sorling details its business relationship with clients
in written agreements covering rates, expenses, billing cycles,
payment practices, and other business arrangements. Rates reasonably
reflect services provided and efforts expended. In appropriate
cases, attorneys will arrange for contingent or flat-fee agreements.
At Sorling, we assure our clients that qualified attorneys will
confidentially service their legal matters. We respond to clients’ needs
and expectations by providing attorneys who are experienced in
servicing the particular type of challenge a client is facing.
Client needs are therefore addressed by a person already familiar
with the applicable laws or regulations. Our primary goal is to
provide timely service at a reasonable cost. An attorney familiar
with the scope of services available at Sorling is assigned to
each client and is responsible for coordinating all legal services rendered. This attorney also reviews a monthly billing statement to assure accuracy of billing for services and expenses. Clients with challenges
of a limited scope or time duration may interact with a single
attorney, while ongoing institutional clients will often deal with
a team of attorneys and staff.
Business operations of the firm are streamlined by management directives
to provide understandable and timely billing information to clients.
Unless specific alternative arrangements are agreed upon at the
outset of the relationship with the client, firm clients receive
monthly statements detailing tasks performed, staff and attorney
time utilized, expenses incurred, retainer balances, and information
specially requested. Statements are in a format developed with
the assistance of our clients. Special billing formats requested
by larger corporate clients can be provided, including statements
on disk or CD-ROM. The firm’s Chief Operating Officer or
another contact on the firm's administrative staff is available
to discuss and clarify billing information, as well as update balance
and payment information.
